PRACTICAL
CHARCOAL_mark & shadow making
Charcoal is one of the oldest drawing tools. Learn how to use this dynamic material by creating quick sketches to more complex images using your fingers, brushes, and erasers. This class is perfect for beginners as it is for intermediate illustrators. Practicing to keep a loose wrist is a great way to free up some mental space while also learning how to use different tools to create more complex drawings. You will be drawing from still life: simple objects to a more complicated one. We recommend this course for anyone who wants to have a relaxing time while learning something new, drawing, meeting new people, and want to take something self-made that they can be proud of.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT _ideation to production
Receiving feedback and support while creating a work, project, or series can often be hard to come by for an artist. This 8 day course offers a space for artists to share their ideas, develop their concept, receive feedback as well as helpful material and references from their peers and course leader.
During this course, you will be asked to share your work with your peers as well as offer feedback to them. You will be engaging in challenging art discourse and lively discussion about art projects. By the end of the course, you will receive a detailed description of topics discussed about your work, course journey notes, as well as extra material for your use. The goal is that you are able to advance your creative and practical needs while supporting the rest of the class in theirs.
This course is lead by Dominique, founder of AM+G_collective and a practicing interdisciplinary artist. Learn more.

THEORETICAL
FEMINISM IN ART_body & narratives
What is feminist art? What does it look like? How does it feel? This course will deep dive into specific groundbreaking works as well as the careers of female artists that have defined and continue to pose questions about womanhood, feminism, the body, gender roles, queer identity, and more. From Meat Joy by Carolee Schneemann to the current rising career of Bárbara Sánchez-Kane, you will dialogue with the group about historical and contemporary implications of feminist art. Through this 5 day course, the goal is not to provide answers as to the questions that pertain to feminism in art, but rather to form part of and continue to push the past, present, and future dilemmas and questions that arise surrounding feminism as a mode of creation.
